The Top 50 Startup Constituencies
We have launched a report into the top 50 startup constituencies in the UK – find out where made the list here.
This list is based on the number of active startups in each constituency – thank you again to Beauhurst for their data.
Key findings included:
Eight of the top ten constituencies are in London, with Cities of London and Westminster (Nickie Aiken MP, Con) topping the list with 1963 tech startups, more than double the next seat.
Labour Leader Keir Starmer’s Holborn & St Pancras is 2nd with 810 startups.
The top constituencies outside London are Shadow Digital Secretary Lucy Powell’s Manchester Central (6th with 252 startups) and Labour MP Daniel Zeichner’s Cambridge (7th with 245 startups).
But there are signs of growth outside the golden triangle, with Leeds Central (Hilary Benn MP, Lab with 129 startups) and Bristol West (Thangham Debbonaire MP, Lab with 178 startups), both outranking any Oxford constituency.
Edinburgh North and Leith (Deidre Brock MP, SNP with 144 startups), Belfast South (Claire Hanna MP, SDLP with 119 startups), and Cardiff Central (Jo Stevens MP, Lab with 46 startups) are top in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Overall – more than half of the Top 50 are represented by Labour MPs (27 of the Top 50) with 13 Conservative, 4 Lib Dem, 4 SNP and 1 each for the SDLP and the Greens.
